National Same Day (NSD) is a courier and delivery platform designed to simplify same-day and next-day delivery operations for both clients and drivers. The experience connects the booking process on the web dashboard with real-time job assignment and delivery management through the driver mobile app.

The design focused on creating clear, step-by-step workflows that reduce friction in time-sensitive delivery scenarios. From entering collection and delivery details to accepting jobs, navigating routes, and completing deliveries, each part of the experience was structured to make the process fast, accurate, and easy to follow.

The Process

01 — Booking a Delivery

The booking experience was designed to make placing a same-day delivery order quick and straightforward. Clients can enter essential information such as pickup and drop-off details, delivery timings, and item information through a structured interface.

The step-by-step layout helps users provide the required information accurately without making an urgent booking feel complicated.

02 — Exploring Alternative Flows

Different variations of the booking screen were explored to determine how the information and interaction flow could be presented more effectively.

The focus was on maintaining a clear hierarchy while making the process efficient for users who need to place deliveries quickly.

03 — Order Management

Once an order is submitted, it appears in the Order List, giving clients a centralized view of their delivery requests.

Users can search through orders, review key delivery information, and track the current status of each order in real time. This provides greater visibility throughout the delivery process.

04 — Driver Job Assignment

After a Same Day or Next Day delivery is booked, the order is pushed to the driver mobile application. Nearby drivers can view available jobs along with important delivery details before deciding whether to accept an order.

This creates a real-time connection between clients placing orders and drivers available to fulfil them.

05 — Delivery Tracking

Once a driver accepts a job, the mobile experience guides them through the complete delivery journey. Real-time navigation and a visual progress tracker help drivers understand what needs to happen at each stage.

The delivery workflow is structured around four key stages:

Delivery Accepted → Pickup Order → In Transit → Delivered

This provides drivers with a clear sequence to follow while giving clients visibility into the progress of their delivery.

Designing for Time-Sensitive Workflows

A key challenge in NSD was designing for an environment where speed and accuracy are equally important. Clients need to place orders quickly, while drivers need to find, accept, and complete jobs without unnecessary interaction.

The design therefore focused on reducing cognitive load through clear information hierarchy, structured forms, predictable navigation, and visual progress indicators. The web and mobile experiences were also designed as connected parts of the same delivery workflow rather than as isolated products.

Connecting Clients and Drivers

The NSD experience connects two sides of the delivery process: clients booking deliveries and drivers completing them.

The web dashboard provides clients with the tools to create and monitor orders, while the mobile application gives drivers a clear way to discover nearby jobs, accept assignments, navigate to locations, and update delivery status.

Together, these workflows create a more transparent delivery journey from booking → assignment → pickup → transit → delivery.
